About this Case Study

This is a personal story about my experience over the last 3+ years. Working in a traditional bureaucratic financial organisation, which used to outsource its software development, we aimed to transform it into a developmental and more agile one, by establishing in-house development.

In this transformation period, we encountered a lot of challenges and questions - both behavioral and technical:

  • what development process shall we use?
  • how is test going to be involved?
  • cloud or on-premise?
  • do we have the necessary competences?
  • what about the IT revision happening once a year?
We started by establishing a simple development process and creating a simple deployment pipeline aligned with it. By constantly iterating on it, we managed to develop the pipeline into something that creates trust and makes everyone happy. In this session, I will share the more essential steps of these iterations and what we did to create a robust deployment pipeline.

About the Speaker

Boyan is a software architect and developer, thinking human-first when writing software.

He likes experimenting and talking about technology and its application to solving everyday problems. He prefers working solutions over concrete frameworks and languages. Boyan believes technology needs more storytelling and he tries to convey this in his work.

In his free time, he performs improvised comedy with his group in Copenhagen, Denmark.
